Something Breaks Out

Where something new breaks out

Something Breaks Out brings art, people and technology together in ways you don’t always see coming.

We develop products, performances and experiences that don’t just work smart — they set something in motion.

Headquarters

One island. Many ways to set something in motion.

Sometimes we start with a technology. Sometimes with a question, a space or an audience.

From our own products to fully custom work: we look for the combination that truly brings an idea to life.

The train ride

We’d rather come and see than guess.

The best solution rarely starts behind a desk. That’s why we come to you, look at the environment and talk to the people who work there every day.

First understand what’s going on. Then decide what’s possible.

Listen. Watch. Ask on.

Custom workshop

Not from a catalogue. Exactly what’s needed.

This is where ideas become installations, experiences, campaigns and technical productions.

We combine concept, design, technology and execution into something that fits the client, the location and the audience.

The cable car

Sometimes you have to look higher to get further.

A challenge rarely consists of a single discipline. Creativity, technology, communication and human behaviour are constantly connected.

We bring those perspectives together and look for the point where everything starts to work.

A different perspective changes the question. And sometimes the answer.

The think tank

Good ideas don’t start with a solution.

They start with curiosity.

In our think tank we explore with clients what lies behind the first question. We connect dots, challenge assumptions and make room for ideas that aren’t obvious yet.

The experimental rail

At some point, an idea has to start moving.

Talking and sketching get us far. But only when we build something do we see what truly works.

That’s why we move ideas from the table to a first experiment as fast as possible.

Build. Test. Learn. Improve.

The Lab

This is where things may go wrong.

In the Lab we build prototypes, test new techniques and combine things that normally don’t belong together.

Not every experiment becomes a product. But every experiment teaches us something we didn’t know before.

Project

The boat ride — SmarterEventing

An event never stands still.

Visitors arrive, move, meet each other and respond to what’s happening around them.

With SmarterEventing we add smart entertainment, interaction and analysis layers to that movement. Technology becomes part of the experience, instead of something standing next to it.

The right experience, at the right moment, in the right place.

Project

SmartVisitor — arrival terminal

Every visitor deserves their own welcome.

SmartVisitor connects registration, identification, positioning and personal content into one visitor experience.

From the first arrival to the last interaction, the system guides visitors on their way and gives organisers insight into what’s really happening at the event.

  • Personal welcome
  • Smart interaction
  • Real-time insight
Project

LightSync — amphitheatre

From thousands of loose lights to one big artwork.

LightSync synchronises the audience’s phones with music, performances and live moments.

Every visitor contributes a small part. Together they form a moving light image visible throughout the space.

  • No app needed
  • Synchronised live
  • Everyone takes part
Project

PrideSync — audio harbour

Sound that moves with the parade.

PrideSync connects boats, locations, audiences and broadcasters in one live audio world.

Listeners hear the music and audio of the boat that’s closest at that moment. The sound travels across the water and along the entire route.

  • Audio per boat
  • Listen along the route
  • One connected experience

Future products

The island is never truly finished.

New questions lead to new experiments. Some experiments grow into a new product, a new performance or a completely new area.

What’s still a prototype here today can be part of a live experience tomorrow.

The hot-air balloon — Contact

The most interesting projects start with a question that has no standard answer yet.

Maybe there’s already a concrete idea. Maybe just an ambition, a problem or a feeling that things could be different.

That’s enough to begin.

Art. Human. Technology. Let’s see what breaks out.

Where shall we begin?

Tell us what you want to achieve, what you’re up against, or which idea won’t leave your head.

Then we’ll explore together what it can become.

Art. Human. Technology. — Let’s see what breaks out.
